On our way out of San Simeon, on the side of the freeway I happened to look over and see two or three cars parked with people taking pictures. I then saw what they were shooting and screamed! There wild zebra on the hill next to the freeway. Max flipped a u-turn and I jumped out with my camera, telephoto lens, and tripod and scrambled onto the roof to shoot. The zebra are the descendants of the ones owned my Mr. Hearst at his privet zoo at the castle in the 1920’s. They now roam the surrounding area and mingle with the local dairy cows.
